(More customer reviews)In our lab we have a handful of 2.5 inch drives that we've swapped out but hang onto for archiving. I wanted something simple and easy that I could use to either swap out drives quickly to see what's on them or permanently enclose them to carry around. This works perfectly. We can either use the electronics outside of the box to quickly swap hard drives or put one in for good. The end fits so well that you wouldn't even need the screws, which I prefer because we swap often.
Another great feature is the bus power: no extra cabling.
Caveats: I also bought 2.5" USB 2.0 SATA Hard Drive HDD Case Enclosure 2.5" by Hottest Deal Ever. It works just as well, but this one is a little handier for swapping quickly. The top just opens up.
Second, I have a 1TB drive that I used in my MacBook Pro. It's a little thicker than the normal 2.5 and doesn't fit very well. You can put the top on sort of, but it fits great without the top, which is pretty much how we use them (for fast swapping).
Third, cheap materials, but that's what I want.
Fourth, It uses a USB to Mini USB. The HottestDeal is USB on both ends. I can imagine being caught without a mini USB.
Fifth: the electronics are not attached very firmly. You have to remove the drive very carefully.
